More Toyota MR2 / Celica details emerge

Toyota continues to test a mid-engined sports car concept using the Concept M prototype as a testbed
Based on the GR Yaris and with development being led directly by Akio Toyoda, the testbed has a mid-engined layout featuring a 500 horsepower turbocharged inline-four cylinder engine codenamed G20E
In production form, it’s more likely to produce closer to 400 horsepower given the expected mid-range (pricing expected to be around $60,0000) location of the model
Sources inside Toyota hint that the production model may ultimately be branded the Celica; sources indicate that a future sports car lineup for Toyota likely consists of the GR86, Celica/MR2, and Supra - all 100% produced by Toyota rather than through partnerships
