Ford Mustang GTD clocks 6:40.8 at the Nurburgring

  • A new pre-production ‘Competition’ model of the Ford Mustang GTD clocked at 6:40.835 time at the Nurburgring

  • To put the time in perspective, it is eleven seconds faster than the previous GTD Mustang record, over eight seconds faster than the Corvette ZR1X, and over three seconds faster than the Manthey-spec Porsche 991 GT2 RS

  • Although technically pre-production, the car mirrors the coming production model closely with power enhancements to the 5.2 liter supercharged V8, weight saving suspension measures, magnesium wheels, and carbon bucket seats

  • The production Ford Mustang GTD Competition is anticipated to be released in 2027
